The Heroes Who Made Us
“Spectacular! Amazing! Takes your breath away!”
This is just one of the reviews from this year’s 75th anniversary Show, The Heroes Who Made Us, which ran from 1–23 August.
Our team, with new Creative Director, Alan Lane, at the helm, introduced fresh ideas to the Tattoo and brought back familiar touches our audience loves. From a musical medley celebrating 75 years of Tattoo hits, to the introduction of a Scottish actor, Terence Rae, as the Storyteller, who guided everyone through the Show.
Acts such as the Massed Pipes and Drums, The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo Performers, the Representative Band of the Polish Border, Top Secret Drum Corps, the United States Air Force Honor Guard Drill Team, the United States Old Guard Fife and Drums, and the Lone Piper took to the Esplanade to share their heroic stories through music, dance, and precision performance.
We also honoured our military roots by inviting real heroes to the Edinburgh Castle Esplanade, including the Orchestra of the Naval Forces of the Defence Forces of Ukraine. Their talent, strength, and passion for their country truly stood out.
In the stands, we recognised our community heroes, not just those from the military but from the wider community. These are the people who help our communities every day, shaping the future, often without expecting any recognition.
