The Soundtrack of 75 Years

Music is a key part of our story, and this August, as we celebrate 75 years with “The Heroes Who Made Us”, we’re going to recognise not only heroes but the music that’s shaped us.

Over the last seven decades, our Show has acted as a melodic melting pot, celebrating culture and military heritage from around the world to unite performers and audience members in shared passion for music.

From tradition to toe-tapping chart favourites, this year's Show is set to span the ages.

Audiences can expect unforgettable musical moments that honour The Heroes Who Made Us — the brave individuals who’ve shaped our history, and the music that’s told their stories – such as the haunting “74th Slow March”, commemorating the courage of the 74th (Highland) Regiment who stood fast during the tragic sinking of the HMS Birkenhead in 1852. And, our Lone Piper performing the traditional piping lament “Sleep, Dearie, Sleep”, the tune that was performed at the state funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

But it’s not all solemn reflection — this is our 75th anniversary, after all. We’ll also be cranking the volume with a musical journey through some of the best-loved tunes from our last seven decades. Whether it’s the thunder of the Massed Pipes and Drums and their rendition of “Loch Lomond”, or Scottish Pop Classics reimagined with a military twist, expect an unforgettable musical experience.

Prepare to boogie in your seat! Find out more about the music in this year’s Show.
