The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo recognised at Scottish Thistle Awards
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo has been named regional winner of the Outstanding Cultural Event or Festival category at the Scottish Thistle Awards 2026, recognising its contribution to Scotland's cultural and tourism landscape.
The award celebrates events that deliver exceptional visitor experiences while enhancing Scotland's reputation as a world-class destination for culture, heritage and tourism.
For more than 75 years, the Tattoo has captivated audiences with its unique blend of music, military tradition and cultural storytelling. Set against the iconic backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, the event brings together performers from across the globe each year, showcasing Scotland on the world stage.
The recognition follows another successful year for the Tattoo, which continues to attract international audiences while generating significant cultural, social and economic impact. As a registered charity, the organisation has donated more than £14.5 million to military and arts charities and continues to champion Scottish traditions including piping, drumming, fiddle playing and Highland dance.
