The call has gone out. The ancient carnyx sounds the official Call to Gather for The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2026
Echoing across the capital at dusk, a lone Tattoo Performer sounded the carnyx, an ancient Celtic war horn which features in A Call To Gather, the 2026 Show, atop the iconic Calton Hill. Signalling a symbolic invitation for audiences and performers from around the world to join together once again at Edinburgh Castle for the annual spectacle.
Staged on the Edinburgh Castle Esplanade, the Tattoo is one of the world’s leading live events, bringing together military and cultural performers from across the globe. The 2026 show, A Call To Gather, will run from 7–29 August 2026. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased at online, or on the phone, 0131 225 1188.
