The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) has invited adventurers to take on a four-day dash the length of Britain in its 2026 Race Across the UK challenge. Running from Tuesday 6 to Friday 9 October, the event tasks teams of two with travelling from Dartmouth in England all the way to Inverness in Scotland - with no cars, no planes, and no map apps allowed.

And, it’s not only the distance that will test the teams, they will also need to use their wit, grit and determination to find mystery checkpoints and complete epic daily challenges along the way.

The challenge holds an important purpose – to raise vital funds for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity. Providing essential support to sailors, Royal Marines, veterans, and their families for life. The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo has a longstanding relationship with RNRMC. Over the last 16 years this partnership has helped raise over £1 million  for the charity, a figure we’re committed to building upon in future.

Mia and Sophie, team Loch and Load, are one of only 22 teams taking part and all the team at the Edinburgh Tattoo are delighted to support them. In addition to the challenge itself, they have organised fundraising events with the wider Tattoo team to help reach their fundraising goal of £3,000. The funds raised will go directly toward supporting Naval families in need, helping the RNRMC continue its work assisting serving personnel, veterans, and their families across the Royal Navy and Royal Marines community.

Working at The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo has given us a close connection to the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity and the Armed Forces communities they support. Taking part in Race Across the UK felt like a great opportunity to challenge ourselves, raise awareness, and give back to a cause we care about.

We're excited, nervous, and ready to get started! It's a chance to push ourselves, have an adventure, and support an incredible charity along the way.

We hope that you join us in supporting Mia and Sophie on their mission.
