A Decade of Dance
We’re shining the spotlight on Kirstin Stewart, who celebrates 10 years as a Tattoo Dancer in style - with a trip down under and a final performance at the iconic Eden Park, home of the legendary All Blacks.
At the Tattoo we are lucky enough to work with some of the most incredible performers as part of our Tattoo Performer Community. Whether they join us for one season in Edinburgh or for many years, our Tattoo Performers are a huge part of what we do and we want to celebrate them.
From Melbourne to the World Stage
2016 marked the beginning of Kirstin’s Tattoo Dance experiences, performing to a crowd of 50,000 people at Etihad Stadium in Australia. A decade later, in 2026, she brings her Tattoo journey full circle with one final spin down under. A fitting finale to 10 extraordinary years.
In between those milestone performances, Kirstin became a familiar face on some of the world’s most iconic stages, including five unforgettable runs on the Edinburgh Castle Esplanade.
We caught up with Kirstin to reflect on her journey and the experiences that have defined her decade as a Tattoo Performer:
Over the last decade, the Tattoo has provided the most incredible opportunities to dance across the world in iconic venues. From the famous Edinburgh Castle Esplanade five times to a tiny little Tattoo in Liechtenstein, a trip across the pond to New York Tartan Week and many more in between.
That feeling of performing to a crowd of thousands never gets old, whether it’s home ground or further afield, and doing it surrounded by so many accomplished, and wonderful dancers, pipers and musicians makes it all the better.
Summarising the last 10 years was very hard to do, as it has been nothing short of extraordinary! Thank you to my fellow dancers, our Dance Director, Aileen, the team at the Tattoo and every audience for an unforgettable decade of dance.
Celebrating Our Performer Community
Kirstin’s story is one of dedication, talent and wonderful experience, a powerful reminder of what it means to be part of the Tattoo Performer Community. From world-famous arenas to intimate international showcases, Tattoo performers carry the spirit of the Tattoo across continents, connecting audiences through music and movement.
As Kirstin takes her final bow, we celebrate not just her decade of dance, but the passion and commitment of every performer who steps onto the stage.
