Job Purpose Summary:
We want to bring together a talented pool of Stage Managers to work across The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, future productions and events. Projects range in scale and time frames but we are particularly interested to hear from people with availability across July and August 2026.
We are seeking committed and passionate people to deliver an international event, which can be demanding but rewarding!
Duration:
This is a full-time role in July and August 2026.
Key Duties:
As a freelance Stage Manager, you will work with the Creative Production team to deliver the event, which may vary on size and scale. Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Supervising rehearsals and performances, including creating daily call sheets.
- Acting as a liaison between the Stage Management team, performers and crew, relaying important information and addressing any issues that arise during rehearsals and performances.
- Assisting with performer welfare.
- Assisting with technical rehearsals.
- Attending production and pre-production meetings as required.
- Working closely with the Creative Director, Producer and technical team to develop a concise running of the performance from a stage management perspective.
- Being prepared to handle emergencies and unexpected situations and managing technical difficulties during a performance.
- Maintaining a clear line of communication with the Creative Production team.
- Delivering Show reports.
- Implementing appropriate risk assessments and health and safety requirements.
- Keeping accurate running paperwork as required.
Essential Criteria:
- Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain an organised rehearsal space and performance environment.
- Excellent verbal communication skills to effectively relay information between departments.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and take on various tasks as needed.
- Familiarity with stage management practices and event/theatre production processes is beneficial.
