The 2016 #TattooTour
February 2016 saw the Tattoo head 'down under' for it's fourth international tour since beginning in 1950. Tattoo favourites the Massed Pipes and Drums, Massed Military Bands, Highland Dance Team and fiddle players from Shetland were joined by a host of talent from Australia and New Zealand taking on 9 shows accross Melbourne and Wellington. The cast also featured some well known acts from previous years with the Lochiel Marching Drill Team, New Zealand Army Band, His Majesty The King's Guard of Norway and Top Secret Drum Corps also being among the global cast.
Of course, no Tattoo is complete without the iconic Edinburgh Castle backdrop and so two dedicated teams took it upon themselves to build a life size replica in each location to ensure our 240,000 audience members experienced a truely authentic Tattoo experience.
The show, "A Fanfare for the Future" featured traditional and contemporary Scottish music as well as well known music from Australia and New Zealand to create a truely spectacular performance presented by Alastair Hutton who has narrated The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo for the last 25 years.
Featuring some of the finest talent on offer, the largest cast ever presented by the Tattoo, celebrated pieces of music from accross the globe and two beautiful replicas of Edinburgh castle the #TattooTour was most certainely one to remember.
