A close-knit and multi-tasking team based at the Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle, preparing for and ensuring guests are well looked after before, during and after the show as part of their booked package. You should be well presented, a confident host and prepared to contribute to all aspects of the role. Real living wage of £9.30/hour. Late July to late August.


This is a temporary position from 6-29 August 2020. Your normal working week is a minimum of 35 hours although you may be required to work hours in excess of this. These hours are arranged between 1715-0000 hours daily Monday to Friday and 1515-0100 hours on Saturday. You will be on duty every performance night.

Job Purpose Summary

Join the front of house team of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo as a Royal Gallery Attendant based at the Tattoo event arena. Working with the Head of Commercial and Hospitality Event Administrator the successful candidate will be required to maintain the high standards expected of an event such as The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo whilst dealing with hospitality guests who are dining in Edinburgh Castle as well as those watching the performance from The Royal Gallery.

Key Duties

• Provide excellent customer service to guests throughout their evening.
• Welcome guests on the Castle Esplanade and escort them to various hospitality rooms within Edinburgh Castle
• Prepare the Royal Gallery for the arrival of VIP guests
• Meet and greet all VIP guests on arrival at The Royal Gallery
• Engage with guests who arrive early and respond to any questions knowledgeably
• Check tickets and access passes
• Show guests to their seats ensuring that all guests are seated timeously
• Ensure guests are comfortable and well looked after
• Distribute knee rugs, show programmes and hospitality gifts
• Usher guests into the reception area at the end of the performance
• Serve post-show drinks and canapes to guests assembled in the Royal Gallery

• Over 18 years of age in order to comply with licence requirements
• Confident and outgoing
• Articulate and well presented
• Hardworking and reliable

Essential Qualification/ Experience

• Experience of and a genuine desire to work in a fast-paced customer-facing environment
• The confidence to engage with VIP guests from around the world
• The ability to work under pressure and without supervision
• A flexible attitude and the ability to adapt quickly
