  • £3.9 million in Tattoo Ticket Sales

With more than 4 months until opening night, the Tattoo announced yesterday that tickets for its 56th production, which runs from 5-27 August, have now sold-out.

This marks the seventh successive sold-out season for the Tattoo and represents the fastest ever sell-out in the event's 55-year history.

The 208,848 tickets for this year's 24-performance run at the Castle Esplanade has generated some £3.9 million in box office receipts, smashing all previous Tattoo records.

Tattoo Chief Executive & Producer, Brigadier Melville Jameson said: "This unprecedented early sell-out underlines the increasing popularity of the Tattoo while demonstrating its commercial importance to both the Edinburgh and Scottish economy."

The sold-out signs were raised yesterday though some re-sale tickets may be available for performances until the end of the 2005 run.

And, a limited number of half-price tickets are to go on sale for the Thursday, August 4th preview performance of this year's Tattoo at 10.00 am on Monday July 25th from the Tattoo Ticket Sales Office at 33-34 Market Street. These tickets may also be obtained by telephone on 08707 555 118 or via the Internet at www.edintattoo.co.uk

Over 1,000 performers from Australia, Norway, Russia and the United Kingdom are set to feature in this summer's Tattoo, which celebrates The Royal Navy and commemorates the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar.
