Free ‘Taste of the Tattoo’ performances across Scotland

Particulars of four exclusive taster performances of this summer’s 60th Edinburgh Tattoo, (7 – 29 August) which is part of the Scottish Government’s 2009 Homecoming Scotland initiative, have today been unveiled by Tattoo organisers in Edinburgh.

Details of the complimentary hour long ‘Taste of the Tattoo’ presentations – from Ayrshire in the heart of Burns country to Scotland’s historic gateway in the Borders - including dates, times and venues, are now revealed below:

This series of free lunchtime events, which are expected to be witnessed by thousands of people across Scotland, will showcase some 500-performers, featuring participants from Canada, Australia, Tonga, Europe and the United Kingdom. The line-up will include audience favourites such as Switzerland’s Top Secret Drum Corps, Highland Dancers from ‘Down Under’, Massed Military Bands, a Tongan cultural troupe, along with the inimitable Massed Pipes and Drums.

Edinburgh Tattoo Chief Executive & Producer, Major General Euan Loudon, said:

“Homecoming 2009 offers even more people the opportunity of experiencing something of the music, colour and spectacle of the Edinburgh Tattoo and we are delighted to be able to provide both visitors and locals a chance to sample a complimentary flavour of this year’s Burns Anniversary themed production, for which some tickets are still available.”
